Get the formulas for your sheet
The template opens in Google Sheets with the formulas already in place. Replace the example rows with your own.
To use the template, download it, then in Google Sheets choose File → Import → Upload and pick the file.
One formula for the whole column
Instead of copying the formula down, put this in D2 and leave the rest of column D empty:
=ARRAYFORMULA(IF(B2:B="",,ROUND(C2:C/(B2:B/100)^2,1)))
Every row with a height gets a BMI, including rows you add later. The IF(B2:B="",, part leaves empty rows blank. For pounds and inches:
=ARRAYFORMULA(IF(B2:B="",,ROUND(703*C2:C/B2:B^2,1)))
Add the category
In E2:
=ARRAYFORMULA(IF(D2:D="",,IFS(D2:D<18.5,"Underweight",D2:D<25,"Healthy weight",D2:D<30,"Overweight",TRUE,"Obesity")))
Color-code the categories
Select column D, then Format → Conditional formatting. Add rules such as "Less than 18.5" in blue, "Is between 18.5 and 24.9" in green, "Is between 25 and 29.9" in yellow, and "Greater than or equal to 30" in orange.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my BMI show as 0.002?
Your height is in centimeters, but the formula is treating it as meters. Make sure it divides by 100: (B2/100)^2.
Can several people share one tracker?
Yes. Add a Name column, and use Data → Create a filter to view one person at a time. Share the sheet only with people you trust, since it holds health information.
Is this the same as the Excel formula?
The single-row formulas are identical. ARRAYFORMULA is specific to Google Sheets. BMI in Excel.
